At University Baptist Church, our student ministry is all about people. Our goal is to invest in, inform, and implement students in a gospel-centered lifestyle where our “arrows are pointed out.” Essentially, our entire focus is that we are going to be concerned about others.
The way in which we keep our arrows pointed out is simple. We aim to:
Invest in those who don’t follow Christ by sharing the gospel frequently and passionately. Jesus said in Matthew 28:18-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you, and surely I will be with you, even to the very end of the age.” And that is exactly what we’ll do, we will ‘go’ and make disciples.
Inform those students who have decided to make a commitment to follow Christ. After being ‘Invested in’ we want to inform Christ followers of the love and purpose of Jesus and how it relates to the lives of students. Colossians 1:9-10 says, “For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to filll you with the knowlege of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.”
Implement willing students to take ownership of their faith and our ministry in their everyday lives. Ephesians 4:12-13 says, “To equip his people for works of service, so that they body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Students will then be built up to take ownership of their faith and of our student ministry.
This is the outline of the plan that we are looking to establish here at UBC which will mature students in their faith and grow them up in a knowledge of Christ.
I hope that you join us!
